Installing VoIP into your home network
You have your VoIP ATA and now you're not sure how to install it into your home network. The first thing you need to determine is how your network is setup. Do you have a broadband router? If you have more than one computer connected to your broadband Internet connection then you probably have a broadband router. To make sure, find your DSL or cable modem and follow the ethernet cable out of it. If it goes into the back of your PC then you don't have a router. If it goes into another device then that is most likely your router. If you have a router then you will usually want to plug your VoIP device into one of the ports on the router. If you're out of available ports on your router, then you will need a network switch to expand the number of network ports you have available. After you've plugged in your VoIP device to the network and powered it up you should have service. Connect a regular phone to the phone jack on the ATA and try to make a call.
